Established in Fort Bend County, Texas in 1997, Julia F. Thompson, Inc. (JFT) strives to improve the quality of life of individuals and their families through leadership, mentoring, education, health and wellness, and economic development in the communities in which they live. JFT continues that commitment with proven programs in the areas of education, community outreach, economic development, health and wellness and service.
JFT is a non-profit charitable organization that focuses on educational programs, scholarships, and community outreach projects. The JFT mission and vision are ingrained in Education, Service, and Outreach and the outcome is “Building Better Communities Through Lifelong Learning.”
JFT recognizes more than ever that learning is a lifelong process that requires funding long before the traditional college years. Therefore, we support reading programs at the elementary school level and math and science programs at the middle and high school levels. We provide scholarships to help college students further their academic endeavors and support mentoring programs for emerging young leaders. We also support charitable and scientific projects other organizations that qualify as exempt under Section 501C (3) of the Internal Revenue Service Code.
Since its inception, JFT, partnering with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc’s Mu Kappa Omega Chapter, has approximately 450 active volunteers, and has distributed more than a half a million dollars in scholarships and funded youth programs and community outreach projects in Fort Bend County and the Greater Houston area. We are currently sponsoring scholarships to 18 students who are pursuing degrees in higher education. With your support, we can continue funding to new and continuing students.
